DO I need to book ahead?
YES!!!! During peak season (Dec-May) we are sometimes booked up 2 weeks to a month in advance. Please book ahead.
What is the cancellation policy?
After you submit your inquiry we will be in touch within 2-3 business days. You will be asked to provide us with a Visa, mastercard or Amex number to secure your reservation. Your card will not be charged until the day of the ride. If you cancel the day before the ride we charge 50%. If you cancel the day of the ride we charge full price. Please bring your preferred method of payment to the barn.
How do I get there?
Our stables are no more than 10-15 minutes from the Grace Bay/Turtle Cove and Leeward area, and 30 minutes from areas such as Chalk Sound. From Leeward hwy heading East. The hwy will turn from a four lane to a two lane hwy. Keep going straight. You’ll see a gas station on your left. Shorty after the gas station you’ll turn right onto Long Bay hwy. Continue over one speed bump (if you go over a second one you’ve gone too far) Turn left onto Lignum Vitae. Then turn left onto Dolphin lane and our driveway is the first on the left. We are about 10 minutes away from most of the resorts in the Grace Bay area. (If you are coming from the Leeward area or Blue Haven you will be taking Leeward hwy to the West and turning left onto Long Bay Hills Hwy.) See the MAP below
Can my child/children be lead?
Your child’s ability will be assessed once they are up on their pony. Most 7 year olds are capable of riding our gentlest ponies on their own. Should they require a lead there is an additional fee of 73 dollars. On a group ride, only one child may be lead at a time.
Is there an age limit?
We take anyone age 7 and up. We will take 6 year olds as long as they are taking riding lessons. There is no age maximum, if you can get on with our assistance, you can ride. A 60 minute ride is recommended for small children, anyone with disabilities, or hip, knee or back problems.
Someone in my group has special needs, will they be ok? Please describe special needs in the comment section of our booking form. Most special needs cases are capable of doing our ride on a lead or on their own. We have taken guests on our rides with autism, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, Asperger’s and physical disabilities (i.e. amputees, injuries).
I have never ridden before, Will I be ok?
Absolutely! We take people who have never riden horses all the time. Our well trained, calm horses and experienced staff will ensure your safety (and fun!)
I have my own car, what time should I arrive?
Please arrive at 9:30am for the morning ride and 3:30pm for the afternoon ride (3pm during winter hours).
Will I get to canter?
We only canter at low tide when the footing on the beach is firmer so as to avoid injuries to the horse’s tendons. Safety is our number one concern, and if you have never cantered before it is safer to do so in an arena. You an check the TIDE CHART before booking to see if a morning or afternoon ride is closer to low tide on your preferred date.We only take experienced riders who show control and balance in the saddle cantering on the beach.
I’m a beginner/novice. What will I get to do on the ride?
Most beginner and novice level riders are capable of walking and trotting for brief periods. We allow them to trot on the road to the beach and sometimes on the beach if the horses are calm and the riders have good control. Everyone will get to take their horse into the water, weather permitting.
Will my horse swim?
The shallow waters of Long Bay beach never reach a depth of more than 5 feet. The horses normally choose to keep their feet on the ground, however, more experienced riders can try to take their horse out for a swim if they can find a deep enough section.
What should I wear?
Long lightweight pants and full shoes are recommended, but not required. Strappy sandals, tennis shoes, reef runners, dive booties are all ok. We do ride through brush and into the ocean, so pants will be getting wet. We have socks and shoes to lend if you do not have appropriate footwear.
Which is hotter; the morning or afternoon ride?
The morning ride is warmer on the way back from the beach and the afternoon is warmer on the way to the beach. Both rides will be warm but you and your horse will get the chance to cool off when you ride into the ocean.
What if it rains?
If we cancel due to bad weather there is no charge. We will ride in light rain, but not thunder and heavy showers.
If weather is questionable and we give you the option to cancel before taxi pickup there is no charge.
If we give you the option to cancel and you choose to come anyway, if we then have to cancel the ride because the weather worsens, you will have to pay for the taxi.
If weather is questionable but you decide to ride anyway, if the weather worsens and we turn back you will be charged full price.
What should I bring?
Payment method. Either a Visa, Mastercard Amex or cash. A voucher from you hotel if you book through a concierge.

Do I have to wear a helmet?
Helmets are optional for anyone 18 and over. They are required for children under 18. We provide helmets.
Do all the rides go to the beach and into the water?
All rides go to the beach. We will go into the water as long as the weather permits. 99% of rides go into the water. No one is required to go into the water.
Who will take my picture?
If you bring a camera or smartphone we will be happy to take pictures during your ride.
